Ashley Collins

(American, b. 1967)

An American Contemporary Painter, Collin’s work is infused with the story of her rise from abject poverty and homelessness to being an acclaimed painter. Collins scraped by, borrowing every dime she could to open a small gallery in Venice, promoting “Ashley Collins” as a reclusive male artist. This allowed her to get her work into the spotlight, her gender no longer a barrier in her artistic journey. She sold her first work for $2,500, which seemed a fortune to the poor artist who ended up donating $1,250 of her first commission to charity. Her massive paintings can be found in Blue Chip collections and museums worldwide. She has become one of the most famous living female artists, many of her pieces rejecting the narrow barriers of what defines Contemporary Art.
