Auguste Nicolas Cain

(French, 1822-1894)

A noted sculptor in the Animaliers school, Cain was most known for his portrayals of wild and domesticated animals. His work is noted as having an industrial, yet decorative feel. His small works are renowned for their display of stylistic variety that is absent from his large-scale public projects.
