Henri Alfred Jacquemart

(French, 1824-1896)

Jacquemart studied both painting and sculpture at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris as a pupil of Paul Delaroche. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1847 to 1879, winning numerous awards. Jacquemart produced major commissioned works in Egypt and Turkey, but gained fame through his commissions of monuments in France. He became a Chevalier of the Legion d’Honneur.
