Jamie Corum

(American, b. 1973)

A Kentucky native, Corum grew up steeped in the horse culture of the Bluegrass State. She began drawing the horse at age 7 and riding at age 11, pursuing the equestrian disciplines of eventing and dressage. She received herundergraduate degree from Bellarmine University and her Master of Fine Art in painting from the University of Kentucky. Time and work in the studio helped develop her realist painting technique, but she credits her years of hands-on experience
with horses refining her eye for equine conformation, movement, and character. Corum’s equine art and portraiture are collected widely in the United States, and her work can also be found in collections in Canada and the United Kingdom.
