An English artist who specialized in sporting and animal painting, Wells was educated at the Slade School of Art in London and the Academie Julian in Paris. He painted true to nature, with his compositions being both technical and having a feeling of graceful movement. Most of his works were private commissions mainly of hunting subjects.
