Sir Michael Anthony Shrapnel Biddulph(British, 1823-1904)
Biddulph was a career solider in the British army, serving with the Royal Artillery in the Crimean and Second Anglo-Afghan wars. He was given command of the Rawalpindi district in 1880 and later became president of the ordnance committee. Biddulph was awarded the honor of Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod by Parliament after his retirement. Additionally, he took up painting, working mostly in watercolor to portray British wildlife and scenes he visited throughout his military career.
