Susan Crawford

(British, b. 1941)

Susan Crawford was born in Scotland in 1941, and brought up on a farm and racing stable. She studied classical drawing in Florence, Italy for two years and learned to paint by practice. Her commissions include twenty-three Epsom Derby winners and five members of the Royal Family, including HM the Queen, who has eight of her paintings in her private collection. She now lives in the Scottish Borders and works full time in her studio there.

“Susan Crawford’s working of her paintings is masterly and shows a deep love of horses and animals, together with a special sensitivity towards the human form and personality. Such talent is a rare gift and one that brings enormous and lasting joy into the lives of all who come into contact with it.”
