A professional equestrian artist, Crawford has painted a number of famous racehorses as well as been commissioned to paint several royal portraits. In her first joint exhibition with the Tryon Gallery in 1969, she sold all of her paintings opening night. Crawford is said to be a master in capturing the form and personality of her subjects, paying close detail to the eyes, set of the ears, and even the flare of the nostrils to portray the fire, spirit, and intelligence of the horses she paints.
