However, horses were a primary love, and he worked in England, Canada, New York, and Los Angeles, where he painted equestrian portraits along with magazine work. Living for a time in Cleveland, Ohio, and Middleburg, Virginia, Broadhead was regarded as one of the most esteemed equestrian painters in America.
