A pupil of M. Guerard, Voirin debuted at the Salon de Paris of 1876. He and his brother, Leon Joseph Voirin, both built successful careers as French genre painters. A well-known painter in the sporting genre, Voirin was also notable for his oil paintings of military scenes.
