Born in Whittington and graduating from Cheltenham in art before moving to Vermont, St. Clair Davis was brought up around horses. She pursued a career as a horsewoman, breeding event horses and serving as an international and three-day event dressage judge. She painted for many years in both America and England, exhibiting with Frost and Reed in London.
